HistoriCall - EU History Learning Platform

HistoriCall is the free learning platform of the House of European History (an initiative of the European Parliament) in Brussels. The platform offers schools across Europe digital resources for civic and history education, available in all 24 official EU languages. Together with Avetica, certified Premium Moodle™ Partner, we develop and maintain the custom Moodle™ plugins that power the platform.

For HistoriCall we built a custom course format based on tiles: photo tiles with completion progress, per-course brand colours, central image management and clear navigation between activities. We also developed a social-learning activity in which students explore fictitious social-media profiles of the EU pioneers, complete with posts, likes and comments.

A voucher system gives entire school classes passwordless access. Teachers generate PDF access codes for their class in a few clicks; students log in with a ten-digit code and an account is created automatically on first use. Custom reporting gives teachers insight into the submitted answers per activity.

The collaboration started in 2024 and continues today: in 2026 we upgraded all custom plugins to Moodle™ Workplace 5.1 and PHP 8.3, with extensive compatibility and regression testing.
